New build properties often have little imagination applied to the garden areas, with this steeply sloping garden the only useable area was set high up at the top of the garden, which was out of view. Lawn areas were laid on steep gradients making the garden difficult to use and hard to maintain.
Our solution carved out a larger area adjacent to the house to create a curved terrace. An integral bench was cut into the retaining wall, with inset lighting so the area could be used year round. A wide curved stairway of gentle steps encourages further exploration of the garden with access paths off to allow easy maintenance of the planting areas. The key benefit to the re-sculpting of the garden is that the whole garden can be seen from the two seating areas giving the impression of a much larger and more inviting space.
Areas of lawn were replaced with a planting scheme that when mature will provide year round interest and a rich tapestry of colours and textures.
“Thank you for our lovely garden, it is wonderful and makes us smile every time we look out of the window. I know we will enjoy it for many years.”
