A sunken hot tub with a coastal view was one of the desired outcomes for this garden project. A change from windows to doors on a projecting bay window also allowed us to create a direct connection between the main living space and the back garden. Decking can be a great solution for linking areas set at different levels and this hardwood decked construction incorporated wrap around steps, a sunken hot tub and oak sleeper planters.
Changing the levels in a garden can create privacy issues with neighbours and may also require planning consent. Additional privacy along the side boundary wall was achieved with horizontal batten screening that extended to deck level to conceal an unsightly wall.
I have been delighted by the quality of the workmanship in the build, the fantastic good nature and professionalism demonstrated by everyone in the team (from design to build completion) and finally the beautiful end result. It has transformed our back garden and entrance area of the house to something with which we are very proud.
